Recruiting can focus on the City of Chicago, Cook County or a broader regional footprint. Depending on the project, relevant communities may include Evanston, Skokie, Oak Park, Cicero, Berwyn, Schaumburg, Rosemont, Des Plaines, Arlington Heights, Naperville, Oak Brook, Downers Grove, Orland Park and other parts of suburban Cook, DuPage, Lake, Will or Kane counties.
Some studies may also include northwest Indiana or other nearby population centers when they are genuinely part of the target market. The service area should be defined by the research objective, venue and audience—not by repeating city keywords across unrelated suburbs.
Within Chicago
Research may distinguish among downtown, North Side, Northwest Side, West Side, South Side and lakefront neighborhoods when local residence or behavior matters.
